The total investment of R$ 141 million will be allocated for the construction of 5 solar energy parks in Ceará, through the company Lightsource (Milagres I, II, III, IV, and V Energy Generation LTDA). It is speculated that over 500 jobs will be generated during the implementation and construction of the solar energy parks in Ceará, and more than 100 when the park is already operational.
Investment in Solar Energy in Ceará Will Boost the Energy Sector
According to Sudene, the approval of the preliminary inquiry for investment in Ceará is the first step, which, according to CGDT, will boost a sector that has been gaining ground in the market. CGDT stated in a note the support of Sudene regarding the renewable energy market, emphasizing that this support would be “not only to maintain the sustainable profile of the Brazilian electric system but also to contribute to the prospect of lower operating costs in the future.”

According to CGDF, the share of solar energy in the Brazilian energy mix increased from 1.2% in 2019 to 1.87% in March 2021. In total, there are 3.29 GW of installed capacity in operation and 1.22 GW of parks under construction.
The General Coordination also mentioned that, according to the plans of the Energy Research Company (EPE), there is an expectation of an increase of up to 7 GW in the mix by 2029, following the 2019 Ten-Year Energy Expansion Plan.
