Strategically located along BR-265, the new shopping center aims to become a leisure and shopping hub for residents of Lavras and neighboring cities.
A Large-Scale Enterprise
The construction of Shopping Cidade da Serra is already in an advanced phase. According to Felipe Lasmar Pereira, co-owner of the venture, the infrastructure works are 100% complete, and about 75% of the project has already been finalized.
The remaining work involves electrical, plumbing, and finishing touches, which are expected to be completed in the coming months.
With a total area of 18,000 square meters, the shopping center will have a varied mix of stores, including large retail chains, supermarkets, and spaces focused on services and entertainment.
The expectation is that the flow of visitors to the shopping center will be similar to that of other successful commercial centers in the region, such as those in Varginha and Pouso Alegre.
Impact on Job Creation
In addition to representing a new shopping and leisure option, Shopping Cidade da Serra will also play a fundamental role in job creation.
The forecast is that the enterprise will create more than a thousand direct and indirect jobs, boosting the local job market.
The service sector will be one of the most benefited, with opportunities for salespeople, attendants, security personnel, cleaning staff, and specialized professionals.
The economic impact will also extend to other sectors, such as hospitality and gastronomy, as a higher flow of visitors tends to drive demand for accommodation and dining.
According to marketing and entrepreneurship professor Paulo Henrique Leme, “the shopping center is no longer just a place to shop, but a point of leisure and tourism. This factor justifies its installation in Lavras, as there is a large flow of visitors to the city on weekends seeking entertainment.”
A Strategic Bet for the Local Economy
The choice of Lavras to host such a large-scale enterprise was not by chance.
Market studies conducted by investors pointed out that the city has a strong influence over about 20 neighboring municipalities, encompassing a population of over 320,000 inhabitants.
Another determining factor is the economic profile of the region, which stands out in the services and education sectors.
The Federal University of Lavras (UFLA) and other higher education institutions attract thousands of students and professionals, making the shopping center a strategic point for consumption and leisure.
“The presence of a shopping center of this size creates a market justification for the city, as it not only serves the local population, but also attracts consumers from neighboring cities looking for a safe, comfortable, and diverse space to shop and have fun,” explains Leme.
Commerce Expansion and New Opportunities
Shopping Cidade da Serra is also awakening the interest of local entrepreneurs. Fabrício Pereira, who has been in the gym business for over a decade, decided to open his third unit within the shopping center.
The new space will have 1,200 square meters and will bring an innovative gym concept, offering additional services such as a sauna, manicure, and an integrated beauty salon.
According to him, “the idea is to provide a complete experience for clients. The goal is for the person to be able to train, take a shower, enjoy the sauna, and still get ready to stroll around the shopping center.”
With this venture, the entrepreneur aims to generate about 80 new job opportunities in the city.
In addition to the gym, other companies have already confirmed their presence in the enterprise, including nationally known retail chains, restaurants, and entertainment spaces.
The expectation is that the shopping center will generate between R$ 10 and R$ 12 million in its first years of operation, establishing itself as an important vector for development in the region.
Expectations for the Inauguration
With the works nearing completion, the anticipation for the inauguration grows every day.
Shopping Cidade da Serra promises not only to boost the local economy but also to transform the lifestyle of residents, offering a modern leisure and shopping option.
The arrival of the shopping center marks a milestone for Lavras, consolidating the city as a commercial hub in Southern Minas.
Whether for shopping, entertainment, or job generation, the enterprise is set to benefit the entire region, becoming a must-visit destination for consumers.
