Nvidia Achieves Significant Milestone This Tuesday (18) by Surpassing Microsoft. This is because the company positioned itself as the most valuable publicly traded company in the world.

At the market close this Tuesday, the chip and semiconductor manufacturer reached a market value of US$ 3.335 trillion, approximately R$ 18 trillion at the current exchange rate.

Thus, the company surpassed Microsoft, which ended the day with US$ 3.317 trillion (R$ 17.9 trillion), and also Apple, valued at US$ 3.286 trillion (R$ 17.8 trillion).

Growth Driven by Artificial Intelligence

According to the G1 portal, experts report that Nvidia’s rise reflects a positive trend driven by increased demand for artificial intelligence (AI) globally, especially evident since last year.

To get an idea of the company’s recent growth, in the first quarter of this year, the company reported a net profit of US$ 14.9 billion (approximately R$ 78.5 billion), representing an impressive increase of 628% compared to the same period last year.

What Nvidia Does

Certainly, you know a lot about Microsoft and also about Apple. However, most likely, if you were asked about what the now most valuable company in the world does, there might be an enormous silence.

Nvidia was founded in 1993 in the United States by Jensen Huang, born in Taiwan and raised in Thailand before moving to the U.S. The company has established itself as a leader in manufacturing essential chips for training complex AI models, such as those used by companies like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Meta (Facebook), and Tesla.

Market Expansion and Diversification

Since its IPO on the Nasdaq, the U.S. stock exchange, in 1999, the company has dominated the gaming chip market and also expanded its portfolio to include chips for data centers and autonomous vehicles.

Owner of the Company is One of the Richest People on the Planet

In addition to leading a company valued in trillions, Jensen Huang, who owns about 3% of Nvidia’s capital, stands out as one of the richest people in the world. Today, according to Forbes data, he has an estimated net worth of US$ 118.7 billion (R$ 641.9 billion).

This amount places him 11th on the magazine’s list. Currently, Nvidia is not only seen as an economic powerhouse but also as a key influence in advancing emerging technologies that will shape the digital future.
