While many celebrate the festival with lights and sweets, Dholakia prefers to illuminate lives with concrete gestures. For him, gifting is not a marketing act but an act of gratitude.

“I want each of my employees to have a home and a means of transportation. They deserve it,” Dholakia stated.

The donated apartments are about 1,000 square feet and were built by Hare Krishna Exports itself. The total investment exceeded 510 million Indian rupees — around R$ 31 million, according to data from the ND Mais portal.

Savji Dholakia was born in Dudhala, in the state of Gujarat. He left school at 13, having only completed up to the fourth grade.
He started working in Surat, in his paternal uncle’s diamond trade, and in 1984, along with his brothers, founded his own company. The business grew rapidly, and by 2014, it employed about 9,000 people.
Today, he is seen in India as an example of a leader who merges spirituality and prosperity, showing that business success can — and should — walk hand in hand with generosity.
