Petrobras Gas Discovery Boosts Outlook for Development of New Exploration and Production Frontier in Colombia.
On July 29, Petrobras announced in a material fact to the market the discovery of a natural gas accumulation in the exploratory well Uchuva-1, drilled in deep waters off the Colombian coast, 32 kilometers from shore and 76 kilometers from the city of Santa Marta, at a water depth of approximately 830 meters.
The Uchuva-1 well was drilled in the Tayrona Block, with Petrobras as the operator (44.44% stake), in partnership with Ecopetrol, which holds a 55.56% stake.
According to Petrobras, this discovery is a result of the consortium’s efforts to enhance the use of data through the application of new technological solutions in geology and geophysics, combined with expertise in deep-water operations.
