Limeira Airport Resumes Construction After A Decade Stopped, With Runway Expansion, New Hangars, And A Public-Private Partnership Operation Model
After more than a decade stopped, the municipal airport of Limeira, in the state of São Paulo, has resumed construction. The city hall confirmed that the resumption includes earthworks maintenance, installation of hangars, taxiways, and aircraft parking. Most importantly, the project also provides for the expansion of the main runway.
According to the municipal administration, the infrastructure is essential to attract private investments and spark the interest of state and federal governments.
Located along the Engenheiro João Tosello Highway (SP-147), the airport is seen as strategic to boost local development.

Mayor Murilo Félix emphasized that the lack of a functional airport has driven companies away. “There are companies that choose not to set up here precisely because there is no such type of infrastructure,” he stated.
Partnership With The Private Sector
The proposal is for the airport’s operation to follow a partnership model with external investors. The idea, according to the mayor, is to bring resources from outside without compromising the public budget.
The Department of Economic Development is engaging in conversations with business groups interested in cargo transport from Limeira.
In addition, there is an evaluation to attract executive aviation and aircraft maintenance services.
The goal is to enhance the city’s connection with other strategic centers in the country and create new business opportunities.
The resumption is part of a larger strategy by the municipality to strengthen infrastructure and enable medium- and long-term partnerships.
