Bold Leadership: Omoda and Jaecoo Bet on Brazil with Hybrid SUVs
What was speculation is now official. Omoda and Jaecoo, Chinese brands, have just launched two new hybrid SUVs in Brazil that promise to shake up the automotive sector.
The Omoda 5 HEV and Omoda 7 SHS models will be available for pre-sale starting in October, with special purchase conditions. Reservations can be made for R$ 5,000, and final prices have been announced as competitive, staying below R$ 170 thousand for the smaller model and below R$ 260 thousand for the larger one.
The launch comes at a strategic moment. With the hybrid SUV market growing rapidly in Brazil, Omoda and Jaecoo aim to consolidate their presence and increase their share in a segment that is increasingly attracting consumers concerned with economy and sustainability.

Omoda 5 HEV: Entry-Level Model with Aggressive Pricing
The Omoda 5 HEV will be the brand’s entry point in Brazil among hybrids. The model features a modern design inherited from the electric E5, but with changes to the front to accommodate the new hybrid engine.
With compact dimensions, the SUV is 1.83 m wide, 1.58 m tall, and has a wheelbase of 2.61 m, providing practicality for urban use. Its trunk holds 340 liters, sufficient for daily errands and small trips.
On the mechanical side, the highlight is the dedicated 1.5 hybrid engine, with a combined power of 203 hp. This setup promises energy efficiency without sacrificing performance.
The interior focuses on connectivity and comfort. It has two 12.3-inch screens, compatibility with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 50W wireless phone charger, and seats covered in synthetic leather. All of this is priced below R$ 170 thousand, with pre-sale conditions that include free IPVA.
Omoda 7 SHS: Power, Range, and Technology
The Omoda 7 SHS arrives to compete in the medium SUV segment. Although it shares part of the base with the Jaecoo 7, it adopts a sportier and more futuristic proposal. With a length of 4.62 meters and a width of 1.87 meters, the model showcases a robust stance.
Additionally, the plug-in hybrid system combines a 1.5 turbo gasoline engine with an electric motor and an 18.3 kWh battery. As a result, the range exceeds 1,200 km, with up to 90 km in fully electric mode.
Inside, high technology stands out. The 15.6” floating multimedia center with 2.5K resolution, the 50W wireless charger with automatic cooling, and the bold design with an integrated front grille — reinforce this proposal.
Finally, the pre-sale conditions are also competitive: 1 year of free insurance, wallbox or free charging, and IPVA 2025 paid.
Hybrid SUVs: A Bold Bet in Brazil
The decision by Omoda and Jaecoo to invest in hybrids in Brazil, in turn, aligns with a global trend. Since its founding in 2023, the brand has been growing rapidly and, so far, has sold over 540,000 units, with 59% being electrified vehicles.
In Brazil, the start has also been promising. In May, the first full month of operation, nearly 400 units were registered. Additionally, there were 700 firm orders. As a result, the brands ranked among the 20 best-selling in the country during that period.
The Future of Hybrids in Brazil
With the launch of the Omoda 5 HEV and Omoda 7 SHS, the brand reinforces its entry into a rapidly growing niche. After all, Brazilian consumers are increasingly seeking hybrid SUVs that combine technology, economy, and purchase incentives.
Thus, Omoda and Jaecoo’s strategy in Brazil goes beyond competitive prices. By investing in a diversified portfolio aligned with global trends, the brands aim for solid and sustainable long-term growth.
