According to a survey conducted this year by the Data Favela Institute in partnership with Locomotiva Research and Strategy and the Central Única das Favelas (CUFA), 96% of children living in communities in Brazil currently dream of a future in the professional gaming world. With this in mind, the NGO Recode, which develops technology projects to change people’s lives, created the brand Games4Good to encompass educational initiatives focused on game development. The NGO is offering several free E-learning courses for game development.

Free E-Learning Courses Will Be Taught in Partnership With Facebook

The initiative will be part of Globo’s entrepreneurial education event, Menos30Fest. The mission is to bring together free teaching projects in game development with the goal of transforming the lives of people and the communities involved.

The first two free E-learning courses created in partnership with Facebook are already open. One will be for beginners and the other for intermediates. In addition, the NGO is also promoting this year the Recode Games4Good Challenge, an innovation marathon that brings together professionals and students for game development, where a total of R$ 50 thousand will be awarded in prizes.

According to the president of the NGO Recode, Rodrigo Baggio, it is important that game development is the most anticipated future for the youth of the country. The organization believes that in this generation of tech changemakers, people who use technology to shape their own future and that of their communities, Games4Good is a huge opportunity for them to learn and grow along the way.

Those interested in participating in the free E-learning courses from the NGO on game development can register for free on the Games4Good website. The courses are 100% online and offer free certificates for those who complete them. The only requirement is that participants must be over 15 years old.
