More than 12,5 thousand tons of LPG were unloaded at the port complex through a ship-to-ship transshipment on the tanker BW Princess.
The vessel Eco Arctic, coming from Bahia Blanca, Argentina, docked at the port carrying 12,5 thousand tons of LPG to serve the Northeast region.
According to Interco, the product unloaded during the operation will be destined for several kitchen gas distributors in the country.
With this import operation, Interco aims to eliminate the uncertainties in the supply of LPG in Brazil, bringing normality and fluidity to the product flows.
They believe that this is a type of activity that can significantly contribute to the Brazilian port and energy sector.
The Director of Commodities and Trading at Interco Trading, Marcos Paulo Ferraz, said: “The arrival of the vessel Eco Arctic will serve regions that demand a high amount of LPG. Another point that needs to be highlighted is that this import model is important to reduce the risks of supply shortages, which sometimes occur in our country. The work we do is carried out individually with each distributor.”
Trading Company Interco Bets on the Kitchen Gas Import Operation at Suape Port as a Starting Point for Strong Expansion in the National Market
Interco, a startup in the commodities segment, is composed of professionals from the oil and gas industry, and began operations in September last year, serving the southern Brazilian market through LPG imported via road from Argentina.
The establishment of infrastructure at Suape Port for import operations offered the company a new growth opportunity in the national market.
More than 20 thousand tons of LPG were imported within just three months of operation in the Pernambuco complex.
Thus, the company is increasingly standing out in the national fuel scenario, focusing on becoming a reference throughout the country.
“In this first semester, we have the expectation of importing 60 thousand tons of the molecule to Brazil, both by road and by sea,” said the executive director of Interco Trading, Nicholas Taylor.
The company stated that it sees itself as a functional tool for the LPG operation flow but intends to diversify its portfolio over the coming years.
For 2023, the LPG import operation at Suape Port has already earned Interco good recognition in the region.
