The New Bifacial Solar Panels Will Also Serve as Decoration for the Places They Are Installed, Besides Strengthening the Commitment and Responsibility to the Environment.
With the electricity bill rising every month, having solutions to save resources, such as water and electricity, is always welcome to consumers. When it comes to solutions for the energy matrix, bifacial photovoltaic solar panels bring various attributes, such as a unique aesthetic compared to conventional panels, making them not only a decorative solution but also sustainable.
Bifacial Solar Panels Become a Solution in the Solar Energy Market, Besides Serving as Decoration
Conventional photovoltaic panels are completely white on the bottom. Bifacial solar panels, on the other hand, are inverted, as their modules and filaments are exposed.
According to designer Vinicius Latoch, this makes solar panels not only functional but also decorative, showing the user’s concern and care for the environment.

While heat evaporates water from reservoirs and countries seek new areas for clean energy, Morocco is testing floating solar panels that function as an energy lid and also generate electricity.

China occupies the desert with a 2 GW solar power plant in Inner Mongolia, installs elevated panels that create shade and humidity over the sand, and transforms a 2.96 billion kWh per year farm into an unexpected weapon against desertification.

A single 560W solar panel was put to the test to try and power an entire house, and the test result shows how much a giant module can truly power a refrigerator, fan, TV, and everyday appliances in daily use.

How much does it cost to install solar energy, produce your own energy for a year, and how long will the investment take to pay off?
Latoch is a product designer at Mapogos Design, an agency specialized in corporate, commercial, and residential environments and projects. The agency represents Jinko, a manufacturer of bifacial solar panels, in the southern region.
To showcase and launch the bifacial solar panels, the agency – which also includes designers Kelvin Mello and Fernanda Niclevicz – partnered with the Off Office Garage Audi at Casa Cor PR 2022, an architecture exhibition running until the second Sunday in August, on the 14th.
Learn More About the Space Where the Bifacial Solar Energy Generating Panels Will Be Displayed and Launched
The fully multinational space is about 80 m², and the designers’ idea was to recreate a garage that not only shelters the vehicle but also offers a home office space and a pool table, transforming the garage into a place of rest and relaxation, while focusing on an environmentally responsible setting by installing bifacial solar panels as part of the roof over the vehicle cover.
According to Latoch, bifacial photovoltaic panels can capture both internal and external light, and are 30% more efficient than conventional panels. In the garage, 10 bifacial solar panels measuring 2.10 m x 1.60 m, with a power of 535W, were installed in an area of about 40 m².
The energy produced by the bifacial photovoltaic panels, according to the designers, will be sufficient to meet the energy needs of a family residence of up to 300 m².
Installation of Bifacial Solar Energy Panels
The installation of bifacial photovoltaic panels is carried out similarly to the installation of conventional panels, with the panel pieces being fixed to metal structures or the roof, following a standard inclination for the product.
All panel sizing is done according to the consumption needs of the property, and only after this calculation are the installation costs established.
The budget for installation ranges between R$ 28,000 and R$ 30,000, or more. Latoch reported that bifacial solar panels can be installed on flooring, agro, ground, and even on top of zinc roofs.
