Interview with Vincent Yu -Reproduction/Youtube

The name of the protagonist of this story is Vincent Yu, who told his entire story to the Canadian website Richmond News. According to the businessman, when people heard his idea of converting a gasoline car into an electric car, they told him he was going crazy.

However, Vincent Yu said throughout the interview with the Canadian website that he is already used to people making fun of him, as his head is always in the clouds. He also said that it took about four years to finally manage to replace the Rolls-Royce Wraith's BMW V12 twin-turbo engine with an electric powertrain.

Entrepreneur Yu did not give many details about which battery he used in the coupe that he refurbished, but stated that he traveled to the United States, Japan and even Germany to get the component. Sad story that resulted in a new business for the Canadian businessman

Mars Power Technology/Disclosure

Even though the businessman did not reveal the cost of transforming his gasoline car into an electric car, Yu reported that he had to sell his house to finance the project. It was precisely because of this decision that his marriage came to an end, as it was not considered reasonable by his ex-wife. Yu says that the only one to understand his obsession was his neighbor, but that he was "forced" to inspect all of the car's daily transformation updates.

Even with the tragic trajectory, the businessman says he is proud of what he has done, since the four years of experience in converting the Rolls-Royce Wraith served to open a new business.

The businessman opened a store with the name “Mars Power”, which means “the power of Mars” in Portuguese, referring to the Roman god who is linked to men and war. Despite the name sounding a little masculinist, the businessman managed to gather the team that helped him convert his car to combustion to work on his new business. Yu's shop will be located north of Richmond and will work on converting gasoline cars into electric cars.

Yu's Motivations

According to the businessman, a refurbished electric car is capable of covering a distance of 500 km. Not to mention the benefits, ranging from the low investment, which before meant a full tank for US$ 90 (R$ 460), and after being renovated it costs about US$ 6 (R$ 30,60) just to recharge the battery at 100%. Furthermore, Yu's motivation also encompassed a special request from his daughter, who had once criticized him for driving the Rolls-Royce Wraith on petrol.
