With Sponsorship from Foresea, Pedala Macaé Festival Will Offer Community Mechanics Activities, Cycling Lessons, Martial Arts and Music Performances, Among Others
The Aromeiazero Institute, in partnership with Foresea, will hold the 3rd edition of the Pedala Macaé Festival with various free outdoor activities for the residents of Macaé. The Festival will take place on November 11 and celebrates the third year of the Pedala Macaé project, which aims to encourage the use of bicycles in everyday life, as well as reinforce the importance of more sustainable and ecological urban mobility.
Among the activities offered, there will be classes for children on how to ride without training wheels, such as the “Rodinha Zero” project; free bike repairs with students from the Viver de Bike course; as well as music, martial arts performances, small business fair, and urban gardening. The Festival runs from 10 AM to 3 PM, in the streets surrounding Bicibase (the project’s headquarters) at Parque Aeroporto.
During the festival, the graduation of the 2023 Viver de Bike classes will take place. Since the beginning of the program, the course has trained 128 people, including 85 women. Viver de Bike is aimed at those who already work or want to start a business using bicycles as a financial leverage tool. In addition to the mechanics content, classes on entrepreneurship, financial management, and the power of bikes in cities are taught.

China has just discovered oil in rock layers that no one thought could be explored at the bottom of the South China Sea, and the field with over 100 million tons could change the balance of energy power in Asia.

Petrobras finds oil on the seabed in the Campos Basin, hundreds of kilometers off the coast of Rio, and the discovery in a deep area raises curiosity about what else may be hidden in the pre-salt and how much this new area could surprise Brazil in the coming years.

Petrobras announces a new discovery in the pre-salt layer of the Campos Basin in block C-M-477, 201 km off the coast of Rio and at a depth of 2,984 m, following indications from electrical profiles, gas, and samples collected during drilling.

Even before the first drilling on the Brazilian Equatorial Margin, a wave of migrants is pressuring Oiapoque, expanding precarious occupations and transforming the city of Amapá into the new epicenter of the oil rush in the Amazon.
The event will also feature the presentation of the results of the Bikeatona 2023. This is a social innovation marathon that supports ideas, projects, and businesses using bicycles to strengthen low-income communities in Brazil. This year, Pedala Macaé, organized by Aromeiazero with sponsorship from Foresea, invested R$ 20,000 in 4 impact projects.
“We are very proud to have participated in building the history of Pedala Macaé since its inception, contributing to workforce training and encouraging socio-environmental projects and the volunteer engagement of our members with the community, as well as promoting the use of bicycles as a tool for entrepreneurship, income generation, and a clean and healthy means of transportation. We also reinforce Macaé’s sustainable vocation as an example to be followed,” celebrates Marco Aurélio Fonseca, Vice President of Sustainability at Foresea.
Successful History
The Pedala Macaé Festival was a public success last year, bringing together about 500 people. More than 50 bikes were serviced in the mechanics workshop, 76 children attended the Rodinha Zero space, and 400 seedlings were distributed in exchange for 141 kilos of recyclable waste for selective collection.
“We want to strengthen, more and more, the bond between people and the city they live in. It may seem strange at first, but it is very common for humans to see the city not as part of their home, but rather as a transit point between home, work, home. The bicycle is an incredible instrument that transforms the daily commute into leisure, physical activity, and above all, belonging to the city. It is with this intention that we celebrate the street as a public space for festivity and gathering,” comments Renata Cirilo, coordinator of Pedala Macaé.
The event is organized by the Aromeiazero Institute with sponsorship from Foresea and support from the Sports Secretariat and the Mobility Secretariat.
