On Saturday, January 21, Governor Tarcísio de Freitas decreed the resumption of free public transportation for seniors aged 60 to 65. This benefit is valid for trains, subways, VLT, and intercity buses. Initially, this decree will come into effect in the next 15 days, and to start accessing it, the public in this age group will need to use the personal electronic ticket.
However, those citizens who do not have this ticket and are interested in enjoying the benefit must go to authorized posts and channels to request the card. In the railway system, this benefit will be granted through the TOP card or single ticket, but it’s worth noting that in addition to trains and subways, this TOP card can also be used in the intercity bus system throughout the metropolitan area (São Paulo).
In Baixada Santista, the VLT and other EMTU services (metropolitan regions of Campinas, Vale do Paraíba, North Coast, and Sorocaba) will be operated by ticketing cards. These tickets are issued by concessionaires in each region. It’s important to remember that passengers in this age group who already have the TOP card will not need to request another; they will only need to validate the card at a validator machine.
To validate the card, just go to one of the stations (Metro, CPTM, Viaquatro, ViaMobilidade, or in intercity bus terminals of EMTU) to enable your benefit and enjoy it for free. Thus, for those without the card who have already requested it, once it arrives, it’s necessary to tap it on the validator, which will then allow free access. It’s worth noting that the request for the TOP card must be made through the TOP app, and it’s also necessary to schedule an appointment.

Requesting the TOP Card:
As mentioned above, the request for the TOP card must be made through the app, but don’t worry as you will be guided to follow all the steps, enter your personal information, and schedule an appointment to pick up the TOP card. It is also possible to make an appointment at accredited locations, and just like the app, it’s good to have your personal information, proof of residence, CPF, and ID on hand. In any case, know that there are more than 80 accredited locations in the metropolitan region of São Paulo; find one closer to you and complete your registration.
