In 2025, 42% of Brazilian Professionals Wish for a Career Change, Highlighting Generation Z, Where 68% Seek New Opportunities. The Main Motivation Is the Pursuit of Better Quality of Life, Followed by More Promising Career Plans and Salary Increases.

In the dynamic Brazilian job market, the search for new opportunities has become a growing trend.

With motivations ranging from the pursuit of greater quality of life to the desire for a more attractive career plan, a large number of professionals are considering changing fields in 2025.

An exclusive survey from the Catho platform, released by CNN Brasil, revealed that 42% of Brazilian workers intend to change careers this year.

This desire is even more intense among those aged between 26 and 35, a demographic in which 46% of respondents expressed this intention.

In contrast, workers over 66 years old and under 18 are the least likely to show interest in a professional change.

Motivations for Career Change

The primary reason indicated by respondents for a career transition is the pursuit of quality of life, mentioned by 42.7% of participants.

In addition, the prospect of a more solid career plan and salary increases follow closely among the main reasons.

Other relevant factors include the search for a healthier work environment and the pursuit of new challenges.

Fabio Maeda, B2C sales, marketing, and products director at Catho, explains that “professionals seek to align their personal aspirations and market-related goals with new opportunities.”

According to him, individuals aged 26 to 35 are at a crucial moment in their careers, where growth and professional satisfaction become priorities.

Obstacles to Career Transition

Despite the strong desire for change, many professionals face significant challenges in realizing this decision.

According to the survey, 35% of respondents point to a lack of qualification as a major barrier, as transitioning to a new area requires specific knowledge and skills.

Another relevant obstacle is financial insecurity, mentioned by 12% of professionals.

The career transition may involve periods without a fixed income or even investments in education and training, which leads many to hesitate before making a definitive decision.

Impact of a Hot Job Market

Currently, Brazil records one of the lowest unemployment rates since 2012, reaching 6.6%, according to the latest data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).

This positive scenario could be a driving factor for more professionals to consider changing fields, as a hot market offers more re-employment opportunities.

Additionally, a survey conducted by LinkedIn shows that 68% of Generation Z workers (born between 1996 and 2012) plan to seek new employment in 2025.

For this group, the main motivations are remuneration, work-life balance, and the lack of growth opportunities in the companies they are currently in.

As the study highlights, “the younger they are, the more dissatisfied,” which reinforces the trend of higher turnover among this generation.

Tips for a Successful Career Change

Experts recommend that professionals interested in changing careers conduct thorough research on the new area of interest.

Analyzing the daily responsibilities of the profession and understanding market requirements can help in making a decision.

Vinicius Walsh, a career transition specialist, suggests: “Research extensively about the area of interest. Investigate what the daily responsibilities of the profession are.

LinkedIn is a great tool. Look for job openings in the area of interest, and analyze the specific requirements and responsibilities.”

Furthermore, investing in training and networking are fundamental strategies to facilitate the transition and increase the chances of success in the new career.

Online courses, workshops, and industry events can provide valuable knowledge and connections for those seeking a new opportunity.
