According to the statement, the tests will take place from today (26) to Sunday (29/11), from 9 am to 20 pm. The equipment has the function of guaranteeing the burning of residual gases when the UPGN – natural gas processing unit – starts operating, being, therefore, a safety system for the plant.

Onlookers will be able to see a small flame at the top of the torch tower while Petrobras is carrying out the tests.

The ignition test of the torch's pilot flame system (flare) is part of the works schedule and was authorized by the ANP - National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels and by the State Institute of the Environment and by the Fire Department.

Petrobras informs that the tests will be carried out in complete safety, with no impact or risk for the surrounding communities.

About the Petrobras Route 3 project

The Route 3 Integrated Project, under construction in Itaboraí (RJ), will be the third route to transport natural gas production from Petrobras fields in the Santos Basin pre-salt layer and will have the capacity to process up to 21 million cubic meters of gas per day.

The works of the Natural Gas Processing Unit (UPGN) are on schedule, as is the installation of the onshore gas pipeline connecting Maricá to the GasLub Hub in Itaboraí. The works are expected to be completed in 2021.
