The Announcement Was Made This Tuesday, August 13, When The State Company Completes 42 Years Of Production In The Campos Basin
This Tuesday, August 13, Petrobras announced an investment of US$ 21 billion over the next five years in the Campos Basin. The announcement comes at a time when oil production in the region completes 42 years and brings expectations of economic recovery for North Fluminense. According to the company’s president, Roberto Castello Branco, the state company is expected to invest R$ 16 billion in Rio de Janeiro, in projects such as a new oil production platform in the South Coast
We will invest US$ 21 billion in the revitalization of the Campos Basin. Our main source of growth will be the pre-salt. The dominance of 98% of the refining market has resulted in very poor performance. Each barrel of oil produced generates US$ 33.50 in cash, while each barrel of refined oil generates US$ 6 — said Castello Branco, in response to questions from senators of the Infrastructure Commission (CI) during a hearing this Tuesday, the 13th, detailing that the company will become “more and more” an oil and gas explorer in deep waters.

Capable of producing 1 million barrels of oil and gas per day, the Campos Basin continues to have an “important role,” the state company affirmed, even after nearly four decades of activities. According to Petrobras, investments have been made for the implementation of the FPSO Campos dos Goytacazes, the definitive production system in the Tartaruga Verde Field, which is growing.
Investments will continue with the revitalization of the Marlim and Albacora fields, complementary projects, and production maintenance. The state company also announced that it has acquired new exploratory areas and made new discoveries in the pre-salt of the Campos Basin.
