Petrobras’ Scholarship Program Is Another Important Step to Boost Brazil’s Economy and Competitiveness on the Global Stage.
This Tuesday, (08/01), Petrobras announced the launch of an unprecedented program aimed at scholarship holders, with the goal of strengthening the entire innovation chain in Brazil. The project covers everything from workforce training to support for new technology-based companies, promoting entrepreneurship as a key component for the development of the national ecosystem.
Investments in Training and Entrepreneurship Open New Opportunities for Students and Technology-Based Companies
Petrobras’ president, Jean Paul Prates, emphasized that the program stands out for its integrated investment in a continuous process.
It begins with the granting of academic scholarships focused on topics of interest in the field of technological development.
-
Become a professional in logistics, mechanics, computer science, chemistry, or gastronomy at the Federal Institute: Ifes opens more than 1,000 spots in free technical courses with selection without an exam.
-
Lula reveals a masterstroke by Petrobras to undo a deal made by Bolsonaro, which involves the return of an important refinery that currently produces less than half of what was expected and makes Brazil dependent on international diesel.
-
A study confirms that the natural gas sector will reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Brazil by 0.5% and accelerate the energy transition by 2026.
-
Petrobras implements a severe adjustment and confirms a 55% increase in the price of aviation kerosene with a proposal for installment payments for the companies.
These scholarships will be awarded to students with the potential to innovate and create solutions for the industry.
The program will be divided into modules, allowing participants to enter at any stage, as long as they are approved by the managers.
The phases include training in innovation management and entrepreneurship, pre-incubation of companies, pre-acceleration of new technology-based companies, and training for supplier development.
The expectation is that, over five years, 4,000 scholarships will be awarded, 400 new technology-based companies will be created in the country, and more than 100 new suppliers for the industry will be developed.
To achieve this ambitious goal, Petrobras will invest in the training of highly qualified professionals and in promoting a conducive environment for innovation.
José Carlos Travassos, Petrobras’ Director of Technology and Engineering, believes that the program will enrich the ecosystem of national suppliers by establishing a virtuous and unprecedented circle in the sector.
The idea is for the training of scholarship holders and the encouragement of entrepreneurship to result in a significant increase in responsiveness, innovation, and competitiveness in the national market.
Petrobras Strengthens the Innovation Ecosystem with the Granting of Thousands of Scholarships and Creation of New Companies
Maíza Goulart, Executive Manager of Petrobras’ Research Center, estimates that, once fully operational, the program will grant about a thousand academic scholarships annually in approximately 50 areas of interest to the company.
Additionally, it is expected that new technology-based entrepreneurs will face at least 30 technological challenges at different stages of development, from pre-incubation to training for supply.
The program aims to accelerate technologies with high potential for application and strengthen the national market, both for companies and for professionals, in offering innovative technological solutions.
This unprecedented project adds to other Petrobras initiatives aimed at developing the innovation ecosystem, such as the Human Resources Training Program (PRH) of the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) and Petrobras Connections for Innovation.
The PRH finances the granting of academic scholarships, committing to invest part of these resources in research, development, and innovation, benefiting society with educational and professional advances.
In turn, Petrobras Connections for Innovation promotes the company’s connection with the innovative ecosystem, encompassing startups, universities, science and technology institutions, and other companies.
The program seeks to create partnerships to develop, test, and commercialize technologies with Petrobras.
With the implementation of this new scholarship program, Petrobras reaffirms its commitment to innovation and technological advancement in the country, contributing to the formation of qualified professionals and boosting Brazil’s economic and social development.
