The Búzios and Albacora Wells Operated by Petrobras Were the Protagonists. The State Company Claims It Will Continue with the Discovery Evaluation Plan.

Petrobras informed the financial market this Monday (11) that it found light oil of excellent quality in the Búzios field, located southeast of the asset. This discovery is equivalent to a “gold mine” in the view of specialists.

The well explored in the Santos Basin has an approximate depth of 2,108 meters of water column. So far, 208 meters of this reservoir is completely filled with oil of the same standard as the rest of the field.

Petrobras Official Note: “The oil, of excellent quality and compatible with what has been found in other wells in the field, was confirmed through tests conducted from a depth of 5,400 meters,” stated the state company.

Although it is not the only operator in the field, Petrobras holds a majority stake in the Búzios field along with 2 Chinese oil companies, which hold another 10%. CNOOC and CNPC each hold 5% of the exploration.

Petrobras Also Sees Great Potential in the Campos Basin

Despite concentrating many mature fields that are undergoing revitalization, Petrobras has still found space to operate and apply more technology in the Campos Basin, which also resulted in a major discovery of high-quality oil in the Albacora well.

Petrobras Note on This Other Discovery: “The discovery consists of about 214 meters of reservoirs, with the presence of light oil, confirmed by tests conducted from a depth of 4,630 meters,” stated the state company, which holds 100% of the asset’s operations, emphasizing that it will proceed with its discovery evaluation strategy.
