On September 15, 2020, the Rio de Janeiro Exploration and Production Operations Unit received the Environmental Installation License for the new stage of development of the Mero field, within the Libra area, in the Santos Basin.
According to the report, the Environmental License for the Long-Term Test and Early Production Systems - TLD/SPAs of Libra, in the Santos Basin, will be in force until September 15, 2023.

The vessel has the capacity to produce 50 barrels of oil a day and compress and reinject 4 million cubic meters of gas a day. The vessel is operated by the Altera&Ocyan joint venture, formerly known as TK-Ocyan.
Third platform in Petrobras' Mero field will be built by MISC
Petrobras signed a Letter of Intent with MISC Berhad for chartering and providing services for the FPSO Marechal Duque de Caxias, to be installed in Campo de Mero.
The FPSO Marechal Duque de Caxias platform is the third unit of the definitive system to be installed in Campo de Mero. The unit belongs to the Libra Block, located in the Santos Basin pre-salt and will have a processing capacity of 180 barrels of oil and 12 million m3 of gas per day.
According to the statement, the charter and service contracts will last for 22 and a half years, starting from the final acceptance of the unit, scheduled for the first half of 2024.
About the field of Mero, in the Santos Basin
The Mero field is the third largest in the pre-salt layer and is located in the Libra area, operated by Petrobras (40%) in partnership with Shell Brasil (20%), Total (20%), CNPC(10%), CNOOC Limited (10%) and Pré-sal Petróleo SA (PPSA) which plays the role of manager of this contract.
It is currently being produced through an Early Production System, made up of the FPSO Pioneiro de Libra, with a processing capacity of 50 barrels of oil per day. In addition to this system, FPSOs are contracted for the Mero 1 and Mero 2 Projects, respectively called FPSO Guanabara, under construction by the company Modec, and FPSO Sepetiba, under construction by the company SBM.
