Emergency Simulation Expected For August Will Be Decisive To Authorize Operations On The Equatorial Margin

Petrobras and the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama) signed an agreement on August 12, 2025 to carry out the Pre-Operational Assessment (APO) on the Equatorial Margin.

This emergency simulation represents the final step to authorize exploratory drilling of an oil well off the coast of Amapá, a strategic region for the Brazilian energy sector.

Negotiations Advance for the Date of the Simulation

In Ibama’s proposal, the exercise will take place on August 24 or in the corresponding week. However, technical and operational teams are still adjusting details before the final confirmation.
