The Countdown to the Start of Operations of FPSO Anita Garibaldi in the Marlim Field, Located in the Campos Basin, Is Almost Complete
The Brazilian Institute of Environment (IBAMA) granted Petrobras the operating license for the vessel, whose activities are scheduled to start in the coming weeks. This unit is equipped to produce up to 80 thousand barrels of oil per day (bpd) and process up to 7 million m³ of gas per day.
FPSO Anita Garibaldi plays a crucial role in the Marlim and Voador Revitalization Project. Petrobras plans to connect the new platform to 43 wells, with a peak production projected for 2026.
The Revitalization Project
The Marlim Revitalization Project is outlined to replace the nine operational platforms in the Marlim and Voador fields (P-18, P-19, P-20, P-26, P-32, P-33, P-35, P-37, and P-47) with the new FPSOs Anita Garibaldi and Anna Nery. It is important to emphasize that the latter has already started production in May this year.

Petrobras is directing a total investment of US$ 18 billion to revitalize the Campos Basin by 2027. Within this strategic plan, projects include the implementation of six new Production Stationary Units (UEPs) and the drilling of more than 200 additional wells.
The Campos Basin
The Campos Basin is one of the most significant and productive areas for oil and gas exploration in Brazil. Located off the coast of the state of Rio de Janeiro, the Campos Basin has been a fundamental part of the country’s energy industry, substantially contributing to national oil and gas production.
Oil exploration in the Campos Basin began in the 1970s with the discovery of the Garoupa field. Since then, the basin has been of great interest to energy companies due to the presence of large oil and gas reservoirs in its offshore reserves.
One of the key milestones in the history of the Campos Basin was the discovery of the Albacora oil field in 1984. This field was one of the largest and most productive oil fields ever discovered in Brazil, significantly contributing to the growth of national oil production.
