SBM Offshore is Chosen by Petrobras for Chartering the Largest FPSO in Brazil to be Installed in the Búzios Field
Petrobras has begun negotiations with offshore supplier SBM Offshore to lease a floating oil platform of the FPSO type for the giant Búzios field in the pre-salt of the Santos Basin, the state-owned company said in a statement on September 15.
The production storage and offloading unit (FPSO), which will be called Almirante Tamandaré, will be the sixth FPSO in Búzios and the largest in Brazil, according to Petrobras. The FPSO will have a production capacity of 225,000 barrels of oil and 12 million m3 of gas per day and will start production in the second half of 2024.
Petrobras stated that it intends to contract SBM Offshore directly, as it found that “at this moment” only SBM Offshore has the capacity to meet the technical requirements demanded by the Brazilian oil company.
