The Agreement Is Non-Binding and Seeks the Evaluation of Opportunities for the Development of an E-Methanol Plant Project in Brazil.

Petrobras, known as PETR4 in the financial market, has established an agreement with European Energy, a company from Denmark that operates in renewable energy and green hydrogen solutions. The purpose of the memorandum of understanding is to evaluate non-binding opportunities for the development of an e-methanol plant project in Brazil.

The signing of the agreement took place at the headquarters of European Energy in Denmark. E-methanol is a low-carbon solution used in industrial processes and as fuel, especially for maritime transport. It is produced from the combination of green hydrogen, obtained from renewable sources such as solar and wind energy, with biogenic carbon dioxide.

According to the state-owned company, the memorandum of understanding aligns with Petrobras’ Strategic Plan 2024-28, which aims to prepare the company for a sustainable and successful future in the energy transition. The partnership contributes to the search for more sustainable and efficient solutions in the use of resources and in energy production.
