“Sapura Navegação Marítima SA, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Seabras Sapura Participações SA, a JV between Sapura Offshore and Seabras Serviços de Petróleo, a subsidiary of Seadrill, has been awarded a 12-month extension for the chartering and services contracts, respectively, by Petrobras in Brazil”, the company said in a statement.
According to the company, the contractual scope includes the provision of services and chartering for installation and recovery of flexible pipelines, using the Sapura Esmeralda in Brazilian waters for Petrobras.

The Sapura Esmeralda will carry out all necessary operations for the installation of flexible pipelines, electro-hydraulic umbilicals, and power cables, new or used, such as loading, unloading, laying, connection between spans, vertical connection (first and second end) to subsea equipment, installation of subsea equipment, and hydrostatic testing, in a maximum water depth of 2,500 meters.
The existing contract is expected to be completed in April 2021, and the 12-month extension will begin immediately after the completion of the original contract of Sapura Esmeralda.
Other subsidiaries of Sapura Energy also received contracts and contract extensions in Mexico and Ivory Coast that, along with Brazil, total a combined value of approximately RM 840 million. The contracts in Mexico and Brazil involve engineering and construction work, while the contract in Ivory Coast involves an oil drilling project.
SBM Offshore Chosen By Petrobras For Construction Of The Sixth FPSO In The Búzios Field
In a statement last Tuesday (15), Petrobras Initiated Negotiations With The Supplier SBM Offshore To Charter A Floating Production Storage And Offloading Unit (FPSO) For The Giant Búzios Field In The Santos Basin. The production storage and offloading unit (FPSO), which will be named Almirante Tamandaré, will be the sixth FPSO in Búzios and the largest in Brazil, according to Petrobras.
The FPSO will have a production capacity of 225,000 barrels of oil and 12 million m³ of gas per day and will begin production in the second half of 2024. Petrobras stated that it intends to contract directly with SBM Offshore, as it has found that “at this time” only SBM Offshore has the capacity to meet the technical requirements required by the Brazilian oil company.
