Oil Workers Resume Strike in Bahia
Oil workers in the state of Bahia resumed the strike on Friday (5). The strike began on February 18 but was temporarily suspended on the same day after negotiations with Petrobras started. However, negotiations did not progress, and according to a statement from the confederation, the strike was approved by the petrochemical union of the FUP (Sindipetros) at a rally held since last week.
The FUP stated that “The strike was also approved by the workers at the Shale Unit of Paraná (SIX), who are expected to begin their movement in the coming days, as well as at the Abreu e Lima Refinery in Pernambuco.”

Petrobras Positioning
Petrobras reported that “The company remains open to dialogue with the union entities. A schedule of meetings had been held with the unions and was only suspended after the company was notified of the strike and union representatives abandoned the negotiations.”
The company also stated that any strikes related to the divestment of assets “do not meet the legal requirements for the exercise of the right to strike” and may be considered an insult.
“The company will take all necessary administrative and legal measures to maintain operational continuity, ensuring the safety of installations, personnel, and the environment,” concluded Petrobras.
