Water Activities Near Imbetiba Port in Macaé Are Prohibited to Avoid Accidents During Petrobras Operations

With this new measure, Petrobras will increase cargo movement at the Port of Macaé and will also support the anchoring activities of new platforms.

At the beginning of this month of September (09/01/2020), the market leader Petrobras announced that it will start operating at Imbetiba Port with vessels up to eight meters of draft. By changing this vessel parameter at the Port of Macaé, Petrobras expands business opportunities, thereby increasing the number of cargo movements and also the number of moored ships.

Petrobras Posted Warnings to Prevent Accidents at Macaé Port

To avoid possible accidents, shortly after announcing that the size of the moored ships will be larger at the Port of Macaé, Petrobras began distributing informative materials in the surrounding areas prohibiting the practice of water activities near the access channel of Imbetiba Port.

It is worth noting that to minimize possible impacts in case of emergency situations, Petrobras has made its response plans more agile and effective. They have a team of specialized professionals, 12 Environmental Defense Centers, 12 Advanced Bases, and Emergency Response Centers, distributed throughout Brazil. In addition to small boats, vessels, recovery equipment, and containment barriers, the Environmental Defense Centers have communication equipment and vehicles that can be quickly deployed by road or air.

About Imbetiba Port

Imbetiba Port in Macaé, which along with Itajaí, SC, supported logistics structuring and drilling work, after production at the beginning of the Santos Basin operations, currently primarily serves the Campos Basin and part of the Espírito Santo Basin.

In terms of supply, Imbetiba Port has a storage capacity of 4,600 m³ of diesel and 6,000 m³ of water and has an average monthly movement of about 30,000 tons of cargo for shipment, and another 20,000 tons for unloading.
