The Port of Santos, on the coast of São Paulo, intends to make around 150,000 square meters available for new truck parking lots, and the idea is for other Brazilian ports to adopt the same approach
According to the port authority SPA (Santos Port Authority), 5 new areas for truck parking will be opened: four on the right bank, in the Santos region, and one on the left side of the Port of Santos, near Guarujá.

The SPA announces that it will make a public call in the first quarter of 2021 to offer these locations for sale for exploration by third parties in the Port of Santos area, which should provide infrastructure for truck drivers. Currently, these designated parking areas are equivalent to 18 football fields, but most of them are occupied.
Truck Drivers Complain About the Price of Private Parking
According to truck drivers’ reports, private parking lots charge around R$ 600 per month. Driver Vinicius Fragoso says that those who cannot pay are left at the mercy of fines in prohibited parking areas, not to mention the thefts.
