Seeking More Climate Intelligence and Navigation Forecasts in the Complex, Porto do Pecém Has Partnered with i4sea for the Use of i4cast Software to Support Maneuvers and Decision-Making in Port Operations.
Porto do Pecém, located in the state of Ceará, continues to invest in technological intelligence, and this Wednesday, (07/27), it has a new partnership. Now, with the technology company i4sea, for the provision of the i4cast decision-making software. This way, there will be greater climate intelligence in the region and navigation forecasts so that the port operations for cargo handling become even more efficient, thanks to this support.
i4sea Will Provide i4cast Software to Ensure More Safety and Efficiency in Decision-Making for Port Operations at Porto do Pecém, Ceará
The need for investments in technology for the modernization of the port sector continues to be one of the main focuses of national complexes, and Porto do Pecém has just taken another step in this area by partnering with i4sea.
The company will provide its decision-making and navigation maneuvering software, i4cast, to make port operations for cargo handling even safer, more efficient, and faster in the Ceará complex.

Bruno Balbi, co-founder of i4sea, commented on the agreement signed with Porto do Pecém for the software provision, stating that the company initiated the partnership with a focus on operational safety in navigation and intends to expand contracts with other port authorities, such as Santos Brasil and Porto do Açu. The primary use of the i4cast software in the Ceará complex will be to support decision-making regarding maneuvers in port operations.
This is because, with the increase in the draft of Porto do Pecém, the location is receiving even larger vessels for port operations of cargo handling, requiring more safety for navigation.
Thus, the climate intelligence and navigation forecasts provided by the software will enable even more assertive decision-making regarding vessel maneuvers.
Furthermore, there will also be a significant improvement in response to contaminant spill events and efficient scheduling of maintenance and deepening dredging, contributing to a quicker and more efficient action in these moments.
i4cast Will Enhance Climate Predictability in Navigations of the Complex and Partnership with i4sea Will Allow for Expansion in Large-Scale Port Operations
The i4cast software from i4sea is a fully customizable platform that adapts to each client’s needs and will be essential for ensuring that maneuvers with large vessels in the port operations of Porto do Pecém become safer and more efficient.
“With the implementation of dynamic draft, Porto do Pecém will maximize the berthing/unberthing operations of vessels in relation to the tide. In other words, we will optimize operational efficiency by reducing the berthing and waiting time of vessels. Thus, we will have greater availability, improving the occupancy rate of berths, ensuring risk reduction and increasing the safety of maneuvers. It’s a significant advancement in our operation that comes as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Pecém port terminal,” emphasized Waldir Sampaio, Operations Director at Porto do Pecém.
Among the main tools of the software to be used in the port operations of Porto do Pecém, the key ones are the Dynamic UKC Charts from i4cast®, which perform the analysis and prediction of the Under Keel Clearance (UKC); Forecast Charts, which address sea conditions for navigation; and Analytics, a tool that displays customizable real-time environmental, operational, and validation analyses.
