Statement Was Made Yesterday (11/06) By Petrobras President Roberto Castello Branco During Hearing In The Chamber And The Company Is Also Studying A Partnership With The Chinese
During a hearing in the Chamber of Mines and Energy Commission (CME), held yesterday (11/06), Petrobras President Roberto Castello Branco confirmed the information that Click Petróleo e Gás Had Already Disclosed Last April About The Possibility Of Building A Thermoelectric Plant In The Location Where The Petrochemical Complex Of Rio de Janeiro (Comperj) Was Planned.
According to the president of Petrobras, a study is being conducted to finalize a joint venture with the Chinese from CNPC, who are already partners with Petrobras in the Mero field in the Santos Basin.
The Chinese want to expand partnerships with Petrobras and are even negotiating entry into the Marlim fields in the Campos Basin.

Taller than the Statue of Liberty, thousands of wind turbines are being planted in the middle of U.S. fields, creating two-story farms where corn and soybeans grow below while the wind turns into electricity above.
The feasibility study for the joint venture with the Chinese is expected to be ready by next September, Castello Branco stated.

Negotiation With The Chinese
The Withdrawal Of The Refinery Construction Is Aligned With The Government’s Thinking To Decrease Petrobras’ Participation In Refining, And The Construction Of A Thermoelectric Plant In The Location Gains Strength With The Entry Of The Chinese Into The Business.
As the state-owned company is already constructing the UPGN (Natural Gas Processing Unit) at the site, the intention is to use natural gas from the Pre-salt to generate electricity.
The new negotiation with the Chinese would resolve the impasse created by the government’s withdrawal from completing Comperj, given that there is a signed agreement with the Chinese for the works.
The agreement for the construction of the thermoelectric plant would ease the government’s decision and please the Chinese who wish to enter the Brazilian natural gas market.
