With Two New IBGE 2025 Public Notices, Selection Process May Offer 9,5 Thousand Temporary Positions for IBGE Enumerators and Research Agents, with Hiring by Objective Test IBGE.
The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) has confirmed that it will launch two public notices for temporary hiring of staff still in 2025. The IBGE 2025 selection process is already in the phase of choosing the organizing committee, with an estimated filling of 9,580 temporary positions for high school level jobs. The selection will be conducted through an objective test, with implementation planned for the second half of this year.
Information can be found in the Direct Hiring Notice No. 90004/2025, published on the National Public Contracts Portal (PNCP). The institute estimates that hiring of the organizing committees will take place by May, with the start of services planned for November 2025.
IBGE 2025 Selection Process Will Have Two Hiring Fronts
According to the notice released, up to two distinct companies may be hired to organize the two public notices, although there is also the possibility that a single committee will be responsible for the complete management of the IBGE 2025 selection process. The selection criterion will be the lowest global price presented by the competitors, in a public session scheduled for May 5, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The organizing committee will be responsible for creating and publishing the public notices, organizing the application process, developing and grading the tests, as well as announcing answers and official results.
IBGE 2025 Public Notices Will Offer 9,580 Positions Nationwide
The two IBGE 2025 public notices are expected to include the following positions: Research and Mapping Agent (APM), with 8,480 positions, and Collection and Quality Supervisor (SCQ), with 1,100 positions. Both functions require completed high school.
The positions will be distributed across all states, with temporary hiring for a fixed term. Professionals should begin activities in November 2025, with allocation in municipalities covered by IBGE.
The monthly salary for the position of Research Agent will be around R$ 2,600, while Collection and Quality Supervisors will receive, on average, R$ 3,300. The amounts may vary depending on the locality and the specific duties of the job position.
Functions Involve Home Visits and Data Collection in the Field
The position of Research and Mapping Agent at IBGE has as its main responsibility data collection in homes and commercial establishments through in-person or telephone interviews. The professional must use electronic and printed forms, as well as operate specific applications and systems provided by the institute.
The Collection and Quality Supervisor works in coordinating the teams of agents, being responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of the information collected. The function requires greater familiarity with administrative procedures and field supervision.
In both cases, selected candidates must participate in mandatory training and may drive vehicles in the service of IBGE, as long as they have a valid license.
IBGE Expects More than 230 Thousand Candidates for the Two Public Notices
The technical study of the IBGE 2025 selection process estimates that the two notices should together attract more than 230 thousand registrants across the country. For the position of Research Agent, 145,351 candidates are expected, while for Collection Supervisor, the expectation is 89,071 interested individuals.
Based on these numbers, the registration fee has been estimated between R$ 42 and R$ 43, but the exact amount will be disclosed only in the final public notices. There will be a possibility of exemption from the fee according to social and economic criteria established by law.
Objective Test IBGE 2025 Will Have 60 Multiple Choice Questions
As detailed in the technical study, the objective test IBGE 2025 will consist of 60 new multiple choice questions, with five alternatives each and only one correct. The syllabus will be announced later, but the expectation is that it will follow the patterns of previous selection processes of the agency.
Generally, IBGE competitions for high school level call for subjects such as:
- Portuguese Language
- Logical-Mathematical Reasoning
- Ethics in Public Service
- Basics of Administration
- Information Technology
- Specific Knowledge
Depending on the position, topics related to cartography, geography, and basic statistics may also be included.
Differently from other selection processes, the IBGE 2025 selection process is not expected to include title analysis or previous experience, as indicated by the published study. The classification will be made exclusively based on the score obtained in the objective test.
Hiring Reinforces Structure for Future IBGE Research
The temporary positions at IBGE are essential to strengthen the data collection structure in the field, especially during household and census surveys. Agents operate in tasks such as PNAD Continuous, the Household Budget Survey (POF), and other nationwide statistical surveys.
Temporary hires are authorized based on Law No. 8.745/1993, which allows temporary admissions in cases of exceptional need.
