According to ANP, Positive Difference in National Oil Production Compared to December of Last Year Was 6.8%
The beginning of the year has been good for the oil production sector, which started off strong. According to data reported by the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), in January, the average production exceeded 3 million barrels per day, which corresponds to a 5.5% increase compared to the same period last year, with growth in pre-salt and post-salt areas.

According to the article published on the InfoMoney Channel, compared to December, the increase reported by the ANP in Brazilian oil production was 6.8%. This is the first time since September of last year that Brazilian pumping exceeds 3 million barrels of oil per day (bpd).
Regarding natural gas production, the country’s average in January was equivalent to 136.97 million cubic meters per day (m³/d). According to the ANP, the average represents a 0.4% increase compared to January 2021, along with a 3.6% growth in comparison with December.

The total average output for Brazil, combining oil and natural gas production, is 3.89 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed), higher than the 3.67 million boed in December and the 3.73 million boed in January, both from 2021.
Meanwhile, pre-salt oil production totaled 2.91 million barrels of oil equivalent per day in January, compared to 2.7 million boed in December and 2.63 million boed in January 2021. As for post-salt oil production, there was a jump to 790 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day, an amount that was 746.1 thousand boed in December of last year. However, according to ANP data, in January 2021 the volume was 849.55 thousand boed.
The main oil-producing company in Brazil, state-owned Petrobras, produced over 2 million barrels of oil per day as a concessionaire in January, which corresponds to a 2.8% growth compared to the previous year.
Shell, the Anglo-Dutch company that ranks as the second largest oil producer in the country and one of Petrobras’s most important partners in the pre-salt area, had a production capacity of 355,768 bpd in January as well. This value corresponds to a 3.6% increase compared to the same month last year, as reported by the ANP.

The National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) authorized Group Cereal to start operations at a Biodiesel Plant in the city of Rio Verde, Goiás state, complying with all environmental requirements established by Brazilian legislation.
