Oil Production in Sergipe Grew 1.5% in August 2025, Reaching an Average of 13.5 Thousand Barrels Per Day. The Increase is Driven by Land Extraction, Which Accounts for More Than 99% of State Production.
The state of Sergipe recorded, in August 2025, a new advance in oil production, as reported on Thursday, September 9. According to data from the Industry Observatory of the FIES System, based on the National Agency of Oil, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), the daily average reached 13.5 thousand barrels per day (bpd) — an increase of 1.5% compared to the previous month.
This performance reinforces the positive moment of the sector, which has been showing constant recovery throughout the year. When compared to August 2024, the increase is even more significant: 34.3% growth.
Land Extraction Dominates the Oil Production Scenario
The strength of the oil industry in Sergipe remains concentrated on land. In August, 99.3% of production — approximately 13.43 thousand barrels per day — was extracted from land fields. This mode of production grew 1.6% compared to July and 35.2% when compared to the same month of the previous year.

Meanwhile, maritime production had a modest participation, representing only 0.7% of the total, equivalent to 92.56 barrels per day. Despite a small increase of 0.8% compared to the previous month, there was a decline of 28.9% compared to August 2024.
These numbers reveal the predominance of land extraction in the state, which maintains its leading role in the northeastern oil scenario.
Natural Gas Production Also Shows Significant Rise
In addition to oil, the production of natural gas also recorded growth in Sergipe. In the same period, the state produced 2.16 million cubic meters (m³), an increase of 0.7% compared to July. In comparison with August 2024, the advance was even more significant: 43.7%.
On land, production was again predominant, totaling 2.13 million cubic meters (m³), which corresponds to 98.7% of the total. Meanwhile, maritime production accounted for 28 thousand cubic meters (m³), representing 1.3% of the state volume.
With the result from August, Sergipe reaffirms its relevance on the Brazilian energy map. The increase in oil and natural gas production not only shows the recovery of the sector but also the efficiency of investments and management focused on land exploration.
The state’s performance reinforces a trend of stability, while the diversification of production, although still small at sea, is seen as a strategic potential for the regional energy future.
