The ES Secretary Announced an Investment of R$ 400 Thousand for the Installation of Eight Solar Power Plants for Local Coffee Producers. The Solar Power Plants Will Have a Capacity to Generate Up to 8 Thousand kWh per Month Combined
Last Saturday (18), the Municipal Secretary of Agriculture and Interior of Iúna (ES) held a meeting with representatives from the municipal associations and farmers at the Iúna Exhibition Park to present the “Sustainable Coffee Farming” project. During the event, Federal Deputy Neucimar Fraga announced an investment of R$ 400 thousand for the installation of solar power plants in eight associations in the Municipality of ES.

At 4,400 meters of altitude in the Himalayas, where the air is so thin it makes breathing difficult, India’s state oil company drilled a thousand meters of rock to reach a 240-degree subsoil and set up the country’s first geothermal plant.
According to João Marcos’ explanations, the investment was announced at a good time, considering that the amount will contribute to the execution of a pilot project throughout the state of ES, created by the team from the Municipal Secretary of Agriculture and Interior, focused on economy and sustainability.
Each solar power plant has a photovoltaic system capable of generating an average energy production of 1,000 kWh per month, and together they can generate a total of up to 8,000 kWh per month. With the investment, 8 associations in ES equipped with depulpers, coffee peeling machines, and dryers will be able to carry out their activities using sustainable energy.
More Than 150 Producers Will Benefit from the Investment
About 150 producers will benefit from the solar power plant project. According to João Marcos, Iúna is currently the municipality that produces the most arabica coffee in ES and the 9th largest producer of arabica coffee in Brazil, according to data from the IBGE from last year.
This project will help farmers take care of the environment, allowing energy savings and also reducing production costs. João states that the secretary is very happy to be able to begin this phase of project funding.
Mayor Romário also commented, stating that the Secretary of Agriculture is working to provide renewal pathways for its farmers. Everyone is going through times where renewal is necessary, thus, projects like this, which generate significant returns, are essential for society.
Solar Energy Market in Espírito Santo
ES ranks 12th in the state ranking for distributed generation, and the solar source in the state has an installed capacity of 58.3 MW according to Absolar. Due to constant energy problems and variations in electricity bills in Brazil, the demand for solar energy systems has been increasing exponentially as a complete solution for alternative energy, in addition to being clean, “free,” and sustainable.
