Prosafe, provider of offshore accommodation platform, signed a contract extension with Petrobras for the supply of the semi-submersible Safe Notos for safety and offshore maintenance support in Brazil.
The original three-year and 222-day term between Petrobras and Prosafe was supposed to conclude in July 2020 for the Safe Notos, but the extension will result in operations until mid-November 2021, the Norwegian company explained this Monday (09). See the negotiation process with the state-owned company here.
The contract extension allows for up to 30 days for five-year class renewal inspections. The total value of the contract change, including the extension, is approximately US$ 28.7 million.
The Safe Notos, a semi-submersible safety and maintenance vessel for hostile environments, technologically advanced and dynamically positioned (DP3), can accommodate up to 500 people.

In addition to a large-capacity open deck area and a telescopic gangway, the Safe Notos provides Petrobras with a lifting capacity of 300 tons.
Jesper Kragh Andresen, CEO of Prosafe, said: “Prosafe is pleased to have reached an agreement to extend the Safe Notos for nearly all of 2021 at a premium rate compared to recent auctions. The Safe Notos has performed extremely well since the start of operations with Petrobras in December 2016, and we look forward to the continuation of operations.”
To remember, Petrobras in July 2016 replaced a contract for the Safe Eurus unit with Safe Notos and agreed to an earlier contract start than planned.
The original contract was extended from the original duration of three years by an additional 222 days.
According to this agreement, the contract commenced in Q4 2016 instead of Q1 2017 as initially planned.
