The Offshore Accommodation Platform Operator Prosafe Received Its New Construction Unit Safe Eurus From a Shipyard in China.
Built by COSCO of China, the Safe Eurus is an advanced and flexible accommodation platform for operations worldwide, excluding Norway. Prosafe stated on Thursday that the Safe Eurus will soon begin mobilization to Brazil to start its contract with Petrobras. Prosafe secured the contract with Petrobras for the Safe Eurus unit in May 2019.

The contract is set to begin in the fourth quarter of 2019 with a firm three-year commitment. This will be the first job for the Safe Eurus. The total contract value is approximately US $ 80 million.
The Safe Eurus, a dynamic positioning (DP3) semi-submersible safety and maintenance support vessel, can accommodate up to 500 people.
It is worth noting that Prosafe resolved a long-standing issue with the COSCO shipyard last year, where three new flotels were waiting to be delivered – Safe Eurus, Safe Vega, and Safe Axis.

After several delays, the agreement reached between COSCO and Prosafe allowed for flexible delivery and long-term financing for the three platforms.
The agreement did not incur lay-up costs for the Safe Nova and Safe Vega platforms; a 50/50 profit split between COSCO and Prosafe, with mobilization and storage costs of up to US $ 20 million per unit and subject to COSCO receiving the minimum annual amortization payment.
At the time, Prosafe expected to receive the Safe Eurus on December 31, 2019.
As for the Nova and Vega units, one of them will be delivered within three years from the agreement with COSCO, plus an option for one year, and the other within five years of the contract.
