The Giant Embrapa Is Open for Enrollment for Courses on Beverage Production, Planting, Soil Fertility, Pastures, and More

The Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) was created in 1973 by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food Supply, with the aim of ensuring food security for Brazil and a prominent position in the international food, fiber, and energy markets. Currently, the state-owned company is offering 87 online courses that are completely free in the agricultural sector.

Composting

  • Required education level: high school.
  • Course load: 10 hours.
  • Learning objectives: The theoretical foundations of topics such as organic matter, waste utilization, and composting, and detailed information on planning, conducting, and evaluating composting processes, as well as the main ways of using organic composts.

Biodiesel: Concepts, Benefits, and Processes

  • Course load: 20 hours.
  • Learning objectives: Identify the differences between biodiesel and fossil fuels, as well as enumerate the advantages of biodiesel for the environment; Identify and describe the biodiesel production processes most used by the industry; Enumerate the parameters for evaluating biodiesel; Identify the aspects that ensure the quality of biodiesel; Describe the importance of biodiesel in the energy matrix of Brazil and the world; Enumerate the main biodiesel-producing countries and the main raw materials used in its production.

Fertigation

  • Course load: 32 hours.
  • Learning objectives: Present the advantages and limitations of using fertigation in agricultural crops; Describe the appropriate equipment and accessories for the different irrigation systems and their uses; Describe ways to size the variables involved in the fertigation process; Equip participants with knowledge of the necessary equipment, fertilizers, and about calculations, management, and monitoring of fertigation.

Embrapa is offering courses in the field of agriculture, including those on irrigation, vegetable production, cattle genetic improvement, pig farming, investments in the sector, biological control, wine making, among various others. Some have continuous enrollment, meaning they can be done at any time. However, attention is drawn to courses that have enrollment deadlines by the end of this month or the beginning of next month.
