The Federal University of Piauí (UFPI) has launched the Announcement 16/2024 for the Specific Selection Process (PSE) for free distance learning undergraduate courses starting in 2025. A total of 4,350 spots are available across 17 undergraduate and bachelor’s courses, offered through the Open University of Brazil (UAB). The spots are 100% free and are distributed across 46 in-person support centers located in municipalities of Piauí, providing an excellent opportunity for those looking to enter higher education in a flexible and accessible manner.
Objective of Free Online Courses and Workload
The free distance learning undergraduate courses aim to provide qualified training for professionals in various areas, intending to meet the demands of the job market and basic education. With workloads varying according to the online course, teaching will be offered in a distance format, ensuring greater flexibility for students. There will be mandatory in-person activities at the support centers, such as seminars, practicals, and assessments. Interaction between teachers and students will occur in a virtual learning environment, using forums, videoconferences, and other online tools.

The 4,350 spots are distributed among the following free online and in-person courses:

The free courses are offered at 46 UAB centers, located in various municipalities across the state of Piauí, allowing students from different regions to access higher education.
Selection Process
The selection process will be conducted through an objective written test, which will include questions on Portuguese Language, Mathematics, and General Knowledge, along with an essay. For candidates who opt for quotas, there will be reserved spots for affirmative action, public school teachers, and public agents, as stated in the announcement. The classification will be based on the scores obtained in the tests and on affirmative action policies, when applicable. The test will be held on November 17, 2024.
Enrollment Requirements
To participate in the selection process for the free courses to enroll at UFPI, candidates must have completed high school or be in the process of completing it by the enrollment date. Interested individuals must have access to the internet and a computer or mobile device to follow the distance activities. The registration fee is R$ 60.00 for general applicants and teachers, and R$ 30.00 for candidates opting for affirmative actions.
