The Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, has launched the public notice No. 002/2024 for the free course Territories of Writing. This basic training program in literary writing offers 1,000 free spots for students from all over Brazil, promoting creative and professional training.
The free course will be taught by renowned professors and writers, with classes in an online format (EAD), allowing inclusive and diverse access to participants from different regions of the country. At the end of the course, 100 scholarship recipients will be selected to receive financial support and complete a literary work, fostering talent and Brazilian cultural production.
Objective and Format of the Course
The free online course (EAD) aims to stimulate creativity, develop literary techniques, and promote the reading and analysis of different genres, such as novels, short stories, poetry, and drama. With 120 hours of activities, the program will be conducted online through a digital platform, offering synchronous classes and supplementary materials for individual study.

Available Spots and Regional Distribution
A total of 1,000 spots will be available across the national territory, divided among 50 classes with 20 students each. The public notice prioritizes inclusion, reserving 25% of the spots for Black individuals, 10% for Indigenous people, and 5% for individuals with disabilities (PWD).
Participants from the North, Northeast, and Midwest regions will receive additional classification in the selection process to promote greater regional diversity.
How Does the Selection Process Work?
The selection of participants for the Federal University-UFRGS will be made through the analysis of responses to the registration questionnaire and the documents presented. Candidates who achieve a score of 7.0 or higher will be approved, respecting the criteria for quotas and regional distribution.
The free online course (EAD) also includes ongoing assessment of the texts produced by students. Of the 1,000 participants, the top 100 performances will be awarded a scholarship of R$ 2,000.00 to complete a literary work, valuing talents in different literary genres.
