The duplication covers more than eight kilometers of new lanes in both directions of the road, in addition to the installation of new signage and safety devices.
The expectation is that the work will be completed by the end of the first semester of 2026. For the governor, the project plays a strategic role.
Benefits for Trade and Services
The local economy is also moving around the interventions.
According to the merchant Mauro Ponciano, who uses the highway stretch daily, the duplication will bring significant gains. “I have witnessed many accidents there. Motorcycle accidents, car accidents, everything. The duplication is everything for us there; it will be an extraordinary project. The movement has increased a lot in São Roque, so this is a necessary project that will greatly benefit the region,” he said.
In parallel, the government announced the duplication of the Bunjiro Nakao Highway (SP-250), between Ibiúna and Vargem Grande Paulista.
With investments of R$ 129 million, the project plans to complete the interventions already started over 14 kilometers of the road, along with the construction of overpasses, pedestrian walkways, and turnaround devices.
The estimate is for more than 300 direct jobs to be generated, with delivery expected in the first quarter of 2028.
SP pra Toda Obra Program
The works are part of the largest road modernization package in the history of the state.
The SP pra Toda Obra includes R$ 30 billion in investments in public and concessioned highways, covering more than 1,500 works and 21,000 kilometers of roads.
The goal is to generate 252,000 jobs and provide a safer and more efficient road system.
Caravana 3D and Upcoming Investments
The governor’s inspection took place during the Caravana 3D, which visits cities with deliveries and announcements of actions in areas such as health, education, housing, and infrastructure.
In the region, total investments exceed R$ 2.1 billion. This Friday (25), the caravan continues to Boituva, Bofete, São Manuel, and Botucatu.
The highway works not only aim to boost the local economy with jobs and commerce but also promise to reduce accidents, improve mobility, and strengthen the region’s development.
