SBM Offshore Is Chosen by Petrobras for Chartering Brazil’s Largest FPSO to Be Installed in the Búzios Field
The Brazilian state oil company Petrobras has begun negotiations with offshore supplier SBM to rent a floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) unit for the giant Búzios field in the Santos Basin.

The unit, to be named Almirante Tamandaré, will be the sixth FPSO in Búzios and the largest in Brazil, with a production capacity of 225,000 barrels of oil, and is set to start production in the second half of 2024.
“The other two units to be installed in Búzios, FPSOs P-78 and P-79, will be contracted through a bidding process,” Petrobras said. The two vessels will have the capacity to process 180,000 barrels of oil and are expected to come online in 2025.
