Petrobras Announces Injection of 137 Million Reais into Cubatão Refinery and PAT Announces Selection Processes Happening Right Now

Petrobras will invest 137 million reais to improve the operational efficiency of the Presidente Bernardes Refinery in Cubatão (RPBC), São Paulo. The investment is part of the company’s Business and Management Plan 2018-2022. The oil produced at the platforms is transported by oil tankers to the São Sebastião Maritime Terminal. From there, it is sent to the refinery through a pipeline.

With the capacity to process 27 million liters of oil per day – 39% of which comes from the pre-salt – the RPBC currently produces 8% of the country’s total derivatives. The gasoline production alone, nearly 6.8 million liters per day, is enough to fuel 135 thousand vehicles. With over 7 million liters of diesel produced every day at the facility, it would also be possible to fill the tanks of nearly 18 thousand trucks.

The refinery occupies an area of 6.5 square kilometers at the foothills of the Serra do Mar and also produces a range of derivatives, such as cooking gas (LPG), aviation gasoline, natural gas, and Pódium and Premium gasolines. Being a coastal refinery, close to the port of Santos, the RPBC serves part of the cabotage market (North, Northeast, Southeast, and South regions), in addition to the Baixada Santista and Greater São Paulo. It is also the exclusive local supplier of raw materials for some companies in Cubatão, such as Petrocoque (green petroleum coke) and Fosfértil (refinery residual gas). Source Petro Notícias
