According to Helder Teixeira, Alumar’s director, the plant operates with 93% of its workforce being locals, thus almost all the employees are from the area, trained and perfected to work in the industry. Another positive aspect of the unit’s operational return is the social investments.
According to Teixeira, over the years, the company has been recognized as a corporate citizen. For the company, social responsibility is paramount, and the proof of this is that Alumar partners with several institutions.
During the hiring process for jobs at the plant, the company developed several programs to promote women’s training. According to Walmer Rocha, operations manager at Redução, 50 women were hired and received training so that they could work at the plant.
According to Walmer, the current workforce of the company comprises 20% women, and the company knows that in the industrial sector, these numbers are still modest, which is why it seeks partnerships to expand these figures.
