The United Kingdom Unveils Its New Radiofrequency Weapon Capable of Taking Down Intrusive Drones. The Anti-Drone System Offers Excellent Cost-Effectiveness, With Each Shot Costing Less Than 1 Real!
The government of the United Kingdom announced last Thursday (16) the project of its new weapon for defense against drone drones. The UK Ministry of Defence described the radiofrequency weapon as revolutionary for using radio waves to disable the enemy’s electronic systems to take down multiple drones at once. Check out everything about the revolutionary UK Anti-Drone System.

The radiofrequency weapon uses radio waves and has a cost of only US$ 0.12 per shot (about R$ 0.61). The Anti-Drone system is still under development and is called Radio Frequency Directed Energy Weapon (RFDEW, an acronym for “Radio Frequency Directed Energy Weapon”).
The new equipment can detect, track, and prevent attacks made by land, sea, or air. According to the UK Ministry in a press release, the Anti-Drone system is capable of identifying targets that are about 1 km away and is working to expand capabilities.

The radiofrequency weapon is considered a much more attractive cost-benefit equipment than traditional mechanisms that use missile launches and air defense systems to counter drones. UK officials indicate that the weapon has an immediate effect.
Due to the war between Russia and Ukraine, several countries have been strengthening their budgets for the development of combat weaponry, including the United Kingdom. Last month, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak approved an increase in the share of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) allocated to the Ministry of Defence. The total is expected to reach 2.5% of GDP by 2030.
New Innovative Anti-Drone System Can Provide Competitive Advantage to Armed Forces
According to the Defence Minister, James Cartlidge, the United Kingdom is already recognized as a powerhouse in the fields of science and technology.
“The development of the radiofrequency weapon not only makes the British Army more protected on the battlefield, but also keeps the country as a global leader in innovative military equipment,” emphasized James Cartlidge.
Paul Hollinshead, head of the technology and science lab at the Ministry of Defence, believes that the new system can provide a competitive advantage to the Armed Forces, saving lives and defeating deadly threats.
The Anti-Drone system is programmed to emit radio waves that disrupt and damage the critical electronic components of enemy equipment. Additionally, the developing artifact will have the capacity to take down large quantities of drones, with an instantaneous effect. The system itself can be operated by one person, given its high level of automation.
The technology of the radiofrequency weapon uses a mobile power source responsible for producing pulses of radiofrequency energy in shots that can occur in sequence against a specific target, or can be widened to encompass all threats.
The United Kingdom Has Other Anti-Drone Equipment
In January, the UK Ministry of Defence conducted the first successful test of the DragonFire laser weapon. The weapon was able to take down drones simulating an enemy attack in the country’s airspace. The UK’s Secretary of Defence, Grant Shapps, celebrated the success of the test.
The equipment is not the first laser weapon capable of destroying rockets and drones, as Israel also has a similar defense system.
According to Grant, the laser DragonFire can take down any type of aircraft. Despite this, he emphasized that the primary objective of the weapon is to combat enemy drones. On social media, he pointed out the scientists’ efforts in developing a laser weapon capable of taking down enemy drones.
