Renault Confirms It Will Bring the Electric Version of the Renault Kwid to Brazil in 2022, to Take the Place of the JAC Models of the Cheapest Electric Cars on the Market
Electric cars are expected to be the biggest highlight of the automotive sector in the coming years. Therefore, Renault plans to bring to Brazil the cheapest electric car on the national market. The launch of the electric Kwid is scheduled for next year, with the possibility of reaching dealerships as the cheapest electric car in Brazil. Currently, this position is held by the JAC E-JS1, an affordable electric car that costs around R$ 159.9 thousand.

In an effort to bring the Kwid back to the national market, Renault announced that the model will return next year with the aim of taking the place of the JAC E-JS1 as the cheapest electric car in the sector.
According to data, the new model from the French company could have a price of R$ 130 thousand, making it much cheaper than the JAC model, which costs R$ 150 thousand. Official data about the model has not yet been published, but if it takes inspiration from its cousin Dacia Spring, it is possible that it will be equipped with a 33 kW motor, generating a power of 45 horsepower and a torque of 12.6 kgfm.

Renault Prioritizes Brazilian Market in the Transition to Electric Mobility
According to Renault Group CEO, Luca de Meo, in a statement released by the company’s press office, Brazil is a strategic market for Renault. The company will move forward with the electric cars in its lineup, applying all of its 10 years of experience in electrics, placing it at the forefront of the sector.
It is worth noting that Renault announced an investment of R$ 1.1 billion in March for the modernization of 2 new electric models and 5 products in its lineup. After the arrival of the Zoe E-TECH Electric in April, the next affordable electric car that will compete with JAC models to be launched in the country will be the Kwid E-TECH Electric in 2022. According to the CEO, besides being a pioneer in selling electric cars worldwide, Renault is a leader in the commercialization of passenger electric models in the country.
Since 2013, the company has been selling electric models for mobility projects and businesses with the Kangoo, Zoe, and Twizy models. There are several projects with sales to clients such as Porto Seguro, Itaipu, CPFL, and on the island of Fernando de Noronha, among others. Additionally, the Zoe model has been sold to the final customer for 4 years. In total, there are over 400 Renault electric cars circulating in Brazil.
New Affordable Electric Car from the Automaker Can Reach 125 km/h
In technical terms, the new electric car could reach a maximum speed of 125 km/h, which is 15 km/h more compared to the JAC model. In eco mode, the Kwid can reach a speed of 100 km/h, achieving this speed in just 19 seconds.
As for range, the model features a 27.4 kWh battery, which provides a range of 305 km. Moreover, the charging time for the Kwid is 30 minutes for an 80% charge if using a 30 kW fast charger.
