Henrique Lage Refinery, Revap, Received for Testing Petrobras’ New Ally, Developed for Inspection in Industrial Areas of Refineries and Offshore Platforms
Atractions aside, Petrobras’ newest ally is shaped like a dog, its design allows it to go up and down stairs, moving with agility – even having the capability to avoid obstacles and stop if it detects something moving nearby! We are talking about the “Anymal D robot,” the first quadruped robot on the market!
Launched at Petrobras’ booth at the recent Rio Oil & Gas fair held in October in Rio de Janeiro, the “Anymal D robot” features embedded technology that allows it to read information from instruments (both analog and digital), generating reports.
Additionally, the newest darling of the Brazilian giant is equipped with a zoom and thermal camera, laser scan, and sound recorder, and can operate autonomously in pre-programmed inspections.

Petrobras Plans to Use Its “Four-Legged Ally” Offshore Starting January 2023.
The quadruped robot was manufactured by the Swiss company ANYBOTICS, with which Petrobras signed a contract to participate in the early adopters program for Anymal X, a version of the robot designed for environments subjected to explosive atmospheres, with a commercial launch expected for 2023.
The tests were conducted in the first week of December at the Henrique Lage Refinery, Revap, in São José dos Campos, as part of the first training with Petrobras employees.
Conducted by technicians from ANYBOTICS and PUR, the exclusive representative in Brazil for the Swiss company, the training enabled around 20 Petrobras workers from different units to be trained. With the knowledge gained, Petrobras teams plan to conduct more tests to explore the opportunities that the equipment brings to operations, including in offshore environments starting January 2023.
Petrobras Will Invest R$ 260 Million to Double Production of Diesel S-10 at Revap
Petrobras announced it will invest R$ 260 million in improvements at Revap (Henrique Lage Refinery) in São José dos Campos (SP). The goal is to increase the production of Diesel S-10, fuel for trucks and heavy vehicles, which, due to its lower sulfur concentration, causes less pollution to the environment.
The modernization work is expected to be completed in the second half of 2025. The main goal is to adapt a hydrotreatment unit, which currently produces S500 diesel, for S-10 diesel production. The project is in the stage of technical detailing and should be bid soon.
Petrobras aims to double the supply of S-10 diesel, which is more modern and sustainable. Currently, around 44 thousand barrels are produced daily in the sector. With the modernization, the goal is to raise production to 85 thousand daily.
With an installed capacity to process 252 thousand barrels per day, equivalent to 14% of the national production of petroleum derivatives, Revap is currently the third largest refinery in the country.
