Athletes Prepare for the International FIRST Challenge with Robots Using Chains for the 2023/2024 Season Competitions in Brasília (DF).

Robots are increasingly present in various areas of society, performing functions ranging from production lines in industries to exploring hard-to-reach places. In the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC), more than 3,500 teams from different countries come together to create and program robots capable of meeting complex challenges.

One of the goals of the competition is to encourage practical learning of science and technology, stimulating creativity and innovation among participants. Thus, the automata developed for the FRC represent the potential of engineering and programming to solve real challenges.

Increase in Robot Competitions for the International 2023/2024 Season

Autonomous robots and androids, averaging 56 kg and 1.5 meters tall, are ready to compete in the new challenge themed GROWING, within the universe of art. More than 3,500 teams from different parts of the world will compete. In Brazil, the event, organized by the Industry Social Service (SESI), will take place in Brasília (DF) from February 28 to March 2.

News and Musical Theme

This year’s highlight is the rings, which will represent musical notes. They should be thrown or placed on the speakers, and at the end of the challenge, the robots need to ‘go up on stage’ and hang from the chains.

Robot Olympics and Student Performance

The modality is known as the ‘robot olympics’ because it combines elements and the adrenaline of sports with engineering and technology. High school students are responsible for designing, building, programming, and piloting large industrial robots to perform tasks in an arena approximately the size of a volleyball court.

Preparation and Awards

After the challenge is announced, the teams will begin assembling and programming the robot for the international FIRST Brazil 2024 competition. Additionally, to ensure good performance, teams must pay attention to the awards, which require prior submission on the website of FIRST. Some of the awards include the Woodie Flower’s Award, the Dean’s List Award, and the Impact Award.
