Petrobras, One of the Largest Brazilian State-Owned Companies, Has an Old Agreement with Prosafe for the Construction of Offshore Vessels. However, the Works Are Progressing More Slowly Than Expected, with Forecasts Only for the Year 2022. Initially, Delivery Was Scheduled for July 2020, but It Was Affected by the Covid-19 Pandemic.
Prosafe, the company responsible for the exploration of vessels and listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange, has made a new deadline alteration with Petrobras Netherlands B.V. for the provision of a semi-submersible floatel for installation in Brazilian offshores on a million-dollar scale.
The project had been estimated to be completed in July 2020. However, the pandemic in the country, which triggered over 609,000 deaths in Brazil, caused delays in the progress of the works and the final deadline was set for November 2021. That is, it should have been delivered within a few days. But again, the deadline was changed, with forecasts for completion only for the year 2022, within six months.

Petrobras’ Million-Dollar Investment
The Safe Notos, which is a submersible vessel, can accommodate more than 500 people underwater. It has an impressive capacity and can be used in strategic locations both economically and politically. According to the state-owned company, the investment for one of the vessels is valued at around US $16.2 million, with direct conversion being over R$ 50 million.
Another point that highlights its capacity and value is the amount of cargo that can be carried, reaching about 300 tons in just one trip.
For Petrobras, the investment comes at a strategic moment and can promote even greater brand expansion, as well as increased competition against other rivals through even more capable and optimized technological means. Negotiations between the two brands have been ongoing since 2016, which means it has been almost 5 years.
Jesper Kragh Andresen, CEO of Prosafe, argues that he is pleased with the partnerships he has been having with Brazil and that this could be a historical milestone for offshores in Brazil. Prosafe is a world leader in the production of semi-submersible accommodation vessels and has been negotiating with other superpowers such as the United States.
