The Highway Will Receive Revolutionary Pavement, with Concrete That Lasts Twice as Long! With an Investment of Over R$ 56 Million, the Project Will Transform the Safety and Durability of the Highway.

The PR-092 highway, located in the heart of the Ribeira Valley, is about to undergo a major transformation.

In a move that promises to positively impact the infrastructure of Paraná, the State Department of Highways (DER) announced that, starting April 2, 2025, the paving work on a stretch of 11.95 kilometers of the road will begin.

The investment value, which exceeds R$ 56 million, will be directed to modernize one of the most important stretches of the highway, connecting the municipality of Doutor Ulysses to the central region of the state.
What’s more surprising?

The new pavement promises to last up to twice as long as the material previously used, thanks to the choice of concrete.

Revolutionary Project Will Transform the Road into a High-Durability Route

With a robust investment of R$ 56,919,000.00, the project will cover an area of approximately 12 kilometers in length, starting at kilometer 117 of the highway.

To ensure that the work proceeds without major disruptions for drivers, the DER/PR has prepared a series of measures to ensure safety during the construction period.

Temporary signage will be intensified, with guidance for drivers to pay extra attention while traveling through the area.

In terms of execution, the project is divided into different stages, starting with the removal of the vegetation layer from the work area.

This initial phase aims to ensure that the passage of vehicles and work fronts occurs safely, without interfering with the progress of the work.

The work will focus on widening the lane, which will be 7 meters wide, consisting of 3.5 meters for each lane, in addition to 1.3 meters of shoulder on each side of the road.

Innovation in Pavement Will Increase the Durability of the Highway

What stands out in the modernization project of PR-092 is the choice of pavement.

The project uses what is called a semi-rigid pavement, which combines local soil with cement, creating a solid and durable base.

Additionally, a double layer of binder and a layer of Hot Mixed Bituminous Concrete (CBUQ) will be applied, providing greater resistance to wear caused by heavy traffic and adverse weather conditions.

This new paving approach has been designed to withstand the climatic adversities of the region, characterized by heavy and constant rains.

Modern drainage systems will also be part of the project, including concrete gutters, culverts, and even a cellular gallery.

These devices will help control stormwater, preventing floods and increasing safety for drivers, especially during rain.

Safety and Comfort for Drivers: More Investments in Infrastructure

In addition to the new pavement, the project includes the installation of safety devices such as metal guardrails, which will be placed at the most winding points of the road.

These structures aim to prevent accidents in higher-risk sections, ensuring that drivers can travel the highway with more peace of mind and safety.

The project also includes improvements in vertical and horizontal signage, with signs and markings indicating speed limits and areas of higher risk.

These changes are essential for enhancing the safety of the highway, especially in a region with a high flow of vehicles.

Complementary Works Include Improvements to Bus Shelters and Planting Vegetation

The modernization process is not limited to paving alone.

Complementary works will be carried out, such as the construction of new shelters for bus passengers and the landscaping of areas near the highway, with the planting of vegetation to improve the aesthetics and environmental quality of the region.

These improvements aim not only to ensure more comfort and safety for those traveling along the highway but also to enhance the living conditions of those residing nearby.

Sustainability actions will also include the replanting of deforested areas, ensuring that the region continues to be a space for harmonious coexistence between nature and modern infrastructure.

Impact on the Local Economy and the Population of Doutor Ulysses

With about 5,500 inhabitants, the municipality of Doutor Ulysses stands out for its strong agricultural vocation.

The PR-092 is one of the main routes for the flow of agricultural production in the region, in addition to being the primary access point to the more distant villages and rural properties from the city.

With the modernization of the road, local producers will have easier access for transporting their products, which is expected to enhance the competitiveness of local agriculture.

For the general population, the project means a higher level of safety in travel, more comfort, and quality road infrastructure.

It is worth mentioning that until now, Doutor Ulysses was one of the few cities in Paraná without asphalt access, a situation that is about to change with the completion of the project.
