The salaries and benefits are the main attractions of the new Firefighters Contest MG, which has just officially opened 342 vacancies to strengthen public safety in Minas Gerais. The Military Fire Brigade (CBM-MG) offers salaries starting at R$ 4,562.30 during the training course and can reach R$ 11,547.07 after promotion to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant.
The selection process, organized by the Idecan Institute, aims to select new Soldiers and Officers who have completed higher education. In addition to salaries, successful candidates will be entitled to medical-hospital assistance, food allowance, psychological support, and uniform allowance.
Firefighters MG Contest: Schedule of tests and eliminatory stages
The selection process will be divided into theoretical and practical evaluations spread throughout July 2026. The first important date is July 19, reserved for the Officers’ tests. The following Sunday, July 26, will be the exams for the Soldier career.

The objective tests consist of 50 questions covering topics such as Portuguese Language, Logical Reasoning, Natural Sciences, and Civil Protection and Defense. Meanwhile, candidates for the officer position will also face a written essay test and questions in English.
In addition to the intellectual phase, the Firefighters MG Contest requires high physical performance. Those called for the next stage must perform the Physical Capacity Test (TCF), consisting of the following exercises:
- Aerobic Endurance Test;
- Swimming Skill Test;
- Abdominal Flexion and Upper Limb Muscle Strength;
- Agility Test (Shuttle-Run).
Details of registrations and participation fees
Those interested in competing for the vacancies must register exclusively through the organizing body’s website between May 18 and June 17, 2026.
To confirm participation, it is necessary to pay the fee, set at R$ 106.00 for candidates for Soldiers and R$ 230.00 for those seeking the Cadet (Officers) position. It is worth noting that blood donors, unemployed individuals, and those registered in CadÚnico can request exemption from these fees.
Mandatory requirements for entry into CBM-MG
The appointment to the positions requires compliance with strict criteria established in Notices 09/2026 and 10/2026. It is essential that participants are between 18 and 30 years old on the date of registration and have a minimum height (1.60m for men and 1.55m for women).
Another fundamental point is the requirement of a higher education degree in any field of knowledge and possession of a National Driver’s License (CNH) in category “B”.
The distribution of the 342 opportunities was organized as follows:
- Combat Officers: 21 vacancies for open competition.
- Combat Soldiers: 321 total vacancies (320 for open competition and 1 reserved for a candidate from the previous contest).
Salary evolution and exam locations
The military career in Minas Gerais offers a clear financial progression. While a 2nd class Soldier receives R$ 4,562.30 during training, the amount rises to R$ 5,332.60 after graduation. In the case of Officers, the Cadet starts with R$ 7,506.80, reaching R$ 11,547.07 upon attaining the rank of 2nd Lieutenant.
The evaluations for the MG Firefighters Contest will be applied in strategic hubs to cover the entire state. On July 19, candidates for Officers will take the exam in Belo Horizonte (and metropolitan region), Governador Valadares, Juiz de Fora, Montes Claros, Poços de Caldas, and Uberlândia. On July 26, the application of the tests for Soldiers will take place in a larger number of municipalities.
In addition to the capital and metropolitan region, the exam will be held in Araçuaí, Divinópolis, Governador Valadares, Ipatinga, Juiz de Fora, Manhuaçu, Montes Claros, Paracatu, Poços de Caldas, Teófilo Otoni, Uberaba, Uberlândia, and Varginha.
All tests for the vacancies at the middle and higher levels will take place in the afternoon, ensuring access for candidates from various regions of Minas Gerais.
