Samarco Embarks Today at the Port of Ubu, Espírito Santo, Large Quantity of Iron Ore for Europe
A ship docked yesterday, on the 10th, at the Port of Ubu, Espírito Santo to load 75 thousand tons of iron ore from Samarco. This is a milestone for the company, as it will be the first time since the disaster of the Fundão Dam’s collapse in November 2015 that the company resumes operations like this. The mining company, a joint venture owned by Vale and BHP, stated in a statement that the ship is headed to Europe and will leave the Port of Ubu later today.
Evair de Melo, federal deputy, spoke about the great expectation regarding what this resumption represents for Espírito Santo: “It has been a long journey to get here, and many lessons have been learned, as I have always said, life goes on,” declared the congressman who witnessed the ship’s docking.
